The pre-sale was no small feat. We wanted to be open and share some confessions and lessons from the scariest, most exhilarating, and most rewarding experience we have ever gone through.
- We were scared to death. We weren't sure if anyone was going to like our brand, the FirstBorn, or us!
- Receiving inventory in your house is not for the faint of heart. We had to unload, open, and check every single diaper bag. We were absolutely exhausted.
- We were scared to bother you. We literally imaging you clicking "delete" on all of our emails
- We thought we were going to run out of money. We are using our own money to fund this business, and eventually the funds have the potential to run out
F.E.A.R. is False Evidence Appearing Real. None of our fears came true! We wasted a lot of time and energy being scared. We got a few pre-orders from friends and they absolutely loved the bag. That was when our thinking shifted, and we started to believe that this business was going to work and that we are serving dads in the BEST way possible. At this point everything started to change for us and more and more pre-orders started to roll in.
The lesson here is to believe. Always have a clear picture of your end goal and see yourself already there. If you do this, the universe has no choice but to align everything in your favor.
We are definitely not where we want to be yet, but the belief is there. FlyDad WILL be the biggest, most successful dad brand out there. We WILL shine a huge positive light on urban fathers, and support them in every way possible.
