5 lessons dads can teach daughters

There's nothing in this world that compares to being a girl dad. From the moment they are born you love them, protect them, and give everything you can to help them become the best little lady possible. Here are 5 ways that you can make the most of your dad skills to help your little lady thrive:

  1. Boundaries - you are the one that will teach your daughter when to say yes and when to say no. Two studies concluded that engaged fathers reduce the possibility of risky sexual behavior with their daughters. In another study, it was shows that daughters with disengaged fathers are more likely to view guys as interested in sex. By teaching your princess to have boundaries early in all facets of life you are actually preparing her in dealing with those dirty disgusting boys!
  2. Healthy Affection- Dads that hold and hug their girls provide their daughters the affection they need as they grow. This affection will help them not simply hunger for any affection from a man. They tend to be more selective and patient.
  3. Conversations With Guys- Daughters need to learn how to have enjoyable, personable, and non-sexual conversations with guys. A common observation from women is that: “guys just don’t talk much.” As a father, you can support your daughter’s confidence when they talk to men. Help your princess learn how to properly talk to those nasty boys!
  4. Strength-Girls learn about their strength and how to express and use their strength through observing the men within their life. Your daughter will push herself further if she sees you doing it. You are her example of how to be a strong human being!
  5. How to Have Fun- While mom normally takes the disciplinarian role, you are the one she gets to have fun with!

Dads can be playful and can offer great opportunities to laugh and play with their daughters. The amazing thing is that laughter and play lead to a deeper attachment. So, as a dad you can offer incredible and unique opportunities for bonding and attachment leading to not always taking life so seriously.

Being a girl dad is no easy feat, but it is one of the most rewarding experiences in life! Good luck! You will need it :)
