What Is The Best BackPack Diaper Bag?
It might seem silly for us to answer the question “What Is The Best Backpack Diaper Bag?” because we are obviously biased! However, we wanted to provide you with factual information that will help you make the best decision on which backpack diaper bag is right for you.
Please note that this review is only for dad diaper bags since we felt it wouldn’t be a fair comparison if we included the lady bags.
Not to mention, aren’t there enough comparison/product review articles out there for mom already? Dads deserve some guidance on their baby gear also, and we’re here for it.
Let’s start off with the fact that finding the best diaper bag backpack for a man is no easy feat. The world had been focused on diaper bags for moms for decades, and just recently realized that dads need help with child care too!
The problem is that guys have a whole different set of needs from women, so a lot of thought has to be put behind the design of these dad bags. Every company approached this a bit differently and we wanted to thoroughly explore these subtle differences.
High Speed Daddy
The HSD bags were designed by an army vet who wanted to blend his army experience with his fatherhood experience. The style is military, and so are the materials. There are 7 exterior pockets including the main compartment, including a dedicated pocket for wipes. There is also a cold storage pocket for milk or snacks. The changing mat is included and it’s large enough for toddlers. The star feature of this bag is the organization pocket that allows you to store all your tiny baby needs without disarray and chaos.
The main thing we saw that was missing in this bag is the necessary compartments to take care of dad. Where does the giant water bottle go? Or the cell phone?
Overall this is a great bag for dads who are into camo bags or army style, and value easy wipe access
PaperClip
The Paperclip dad diaper bag is more suitable for the metro man. The style is very polished and would go well with a very stylish suit jacket, perfectly ripped jeans, and very expensive shoes. In fact, this bag is so metro that it would even work as a unisex bag. The top flap of the bag opens up to a main section where there is plenty of room for diapers, wipes, and all other necessities.
The star of the show here is the integrated changing pad that rolls out from the front pocket. While all the other bags have separate changing mats that can be extracted from a pocket, the Paperclip’s mat is integrated into the bag.
If you change your baby in public often this is definitely the bag for you
The downsides are that there is no integrated wipes pocket, no cold storage, and no storage for the dad stuff.
Mission Critical
If the tactical bag look is what you desire, the Mission Critical bag is the one for you. This one could easily be mistaken for a real army bag. These products have a lot of thought put into them and actually have compartments built for dad. There is a pocket for an iPad/laptop, wallet, and keys. It’s made of top notch materials, and has the MOLLE system for attachments
This bag is so tactical that it actually has a survival whistle on the strap. We’re not exactly sure why you would need this for your baby, but if you want to feel like you are really going to battle it’s a cool feature.
Tactical Baby Gear
Tactical is another group of army veterans who wanted to take their parenting to the next level. The TBG bag has a rugged look, and compartments galore. This bag also boasts a built-in changing mat that folds out from the back of the bag. TBG’s claim to fame are their YKK zippers and their premium polyester military grade material.
The bag lacks cold storage and does not have any special compartments for Dad to put his stuff. It is, however, a very high-end and nice-looking bag for anyone that is into the military style.
FlyDad
The FlyDad bag was designed for the modern, urban father. FlyDad is where fashion and parenting intersect, so no details in style were sacrificed. The goal was to create a bag that could be worn with a nice pair of Jordans and a very expensive hoodie. It has everything to take care of both dad and kid.
The bag has tons of compartments, a built in wipes holder, and cold storage. The feet keep the bag clean in the men’s bathroom, and the oversized water bottle holder keeps dad hydrated. There is also a changing mat for babies and a laptop holder for dad
This bag’s claim to fame is the built-in cell phone holder. This holder lives on the strap of the bag for easy access, and has a charging cord weaved through the strap, which leads to a FlyDad phone charger.
This bag has everything a dad could need not only for his kid, but also himself. Best of all, it keeps him looking fly!
So there you have it. 5 different bags and 3 different styles. All these bags use premium materials and high end construction. So how do you choose?
The first thing you should do is ask yourself…
Are you an army dad?
A metro dad?
Or a FlyDad?
If you are into your diaper bag matching your style, this should answer your question.
Otherwise, if you are more concerned about features, have a look at the details of each of these bags on Amazon. Do you absolutely need cold storage for your milk? Is the wipes holder life changing for you? How about the convenience of the phone holder in the FlyDad bag?
In any case, we love the fact that the dad market is growing and you have options.
Happy shopping!
